Looking out the front window the other weekend, I saw two healthy looking onion tops that I decided were probably at their peak of growth so I harvested them. I pulled the first one up and the bulb was underdeveloped…and then a moment later I realised that somehow we did manage to grow leeks. We planted leeks in March but were only aware of three threads in small pots that never grew any larger than an inch. Now, we can add leek to our list of vegetables grown!
Sure they are not “spring onions” ??
Mostly sure! Spring onions are a very quick crop and should have been up and eaten long before this (they were in the back yard).
