Hibernation Calls

It’s now the time of year when it is dark as we leave the house in the morning and return in the evening: when I yearn to be home in the daylight.  Living at this latitude, and dreading part of the calendar, I hold tightly to creating any spark of light or inspiration possible.  I like to snuggle with loved ones and drink tea, decorate and prepare for holidays along the way, and dream of a time of daylight.

The books here are the ones we have acquired as gifts and charity shop scores over the past several months and they will nourish our bodies as best we can while we plan for a time when the sun returns to nourish our garden.

It is also the time to hoard and process as many pumpkins as possible before the stores stop carrying them, and to enjoy some of the purée in pumpkin chai lattes! For pumpkin chai, simply make your chai tea stronger, add very smoothly pureed pumpkin and add milk/sweetener as desired.
