A (Very Old) New Plaid Shirt

Five or six years ago, I found this beautiful fabric at the charity shop in the shape of a very large men’s shirt. After bringing it home, I immediately chopped off the sleeves and refit the torso; losing my confidence before reattaching the sleeves. I adored the print and fell in love with the idea of the shirt so much that I couldn’t bring myself to go back to it lest things go horribly wrong. Well, I certainly don’t enjoy a shirt consigned to the craft box so it was time to take the risk and finish it.

I removed the collar and kept the shirt nice and long for a tunic

and back ties,

and sleeves with cozy elbow splits that highlight the original cuffs.
