Someone’s honeybees have been out foraging for a few weeks and the wild bees are now out, so Sunshine and I made a watering station.

We used applewood sticks pruned from the apple tree this winter, aquarium sand (so that it would be free from harmful chemicals and safe for wildlife), and the smooth pebbles that Sunshine selected from the gravel areas in the garden.

For placement I chose the south side of the house, near the wall. This is the least natural part of the garden at the moment and therefore unlikely to acquire any natural puddles. It’s also the warmest, driest, and has the earliest flowers. Since it’s right near the house, we can check on it frequently.
